Biography

Sharon Booma - Artists - Pryor Fine Art

Sharon Booma’s paintings reflect the human experience—its beauty, imperfection, mystery, and spirituality. Each work is uniquely crafted through a range of processes and rhythms, becoming a manifestation of actions, thoughts, and feelings. Through layered gestures and evolving surfaces, the paintings unfold as both physical and emotional experiences.

While it may be instinctive to create rational and objective compositions, Booma consciously allows space for elements of controlled chance. Her process moves between concentrated physicality and an equally present, yet often elusive, delicacy. Within this balance, intuition and structure coexist, allowing each painting to develop through a dialogue between intention and discovery.

Deeply rooted in emotion, memory, and imagination, Booma’s work reflects an ongoing search for authenticity in the act of making. The paintings embrace uncertainty while remaining attentive to the subtle rhythms and energies that emerge through the creative process.

As Henri Matisse wrote:

“You study, you learn, but you guard the original naiveté. It has to be within you… the essential thing is to put oneself in a frame of mind which is close to that of prayer.”
