Susan Ashworth (b.1968 Dorset, UK) is a highly regarded British artist known for her dramatic still-life oil paintings. Ashworth graduated from Falmouth College in 1991 with honors in Fine Art. Her masterful work is characterized by its exploration of composition—specifically, commonly used found objects such as plants, kitchen items, vases, and food.
Inspired by painters on both sides of the Atlantic, but especially the Bay Area Figurative Movement, Ashworth is recognized as one of the finest painters of her time, blending an old-school traditional approach to painting with modern application and attention to light and shadow.
“I have always made my home in “well-used” coastal places of industry. I like the edges of things; the changing light; the space of the coast and the sea. And one way or another all this has had its effect on my work.” – Susan Ashworth
