Juniper Briggs is a mixed media painter whose abstracted figures explore the emotional complexity of everyday life. Through layered color, expressive line, and fragmented form, she creates compositions that move between reflection and activity, touching on relationships, vulnerability, hope, and connection.

Briggs grew up in the mountains of North Carolina within a community of working artists, surrounded by painters, potters, and glassblowers. Later travels through Mexico, Spain, and beyond expanded her exposure to different artistic traditions. These experiences continue to inform a visual language that draws from Cubism and classical figurative art while remaining distinctly personal.

Working intuitively, Briggs builds her paintings through addition and omission. Visible lines, overlapping forms, and layered surfaces preserve evidence of the decisions made throughout the process. That openness feels closely connected to the construction of her figures themselves: layered, assembled, and shaped by experience. Faces often remain calm and composed while bodies reach, lean, gather, and move. Birds, horses, water, flowers, and boats become active elements within these scenes, extending their emotional and narrative possibilities while leaving space for the viewer’s own associations.

Juniper’s work has appeared on the cover of Art & Edit Magazine and in publications such as Elle Canada. She has collaborated with numerous brands including Framebridge and All Modern. Her work resides in the homes of collectors both nationally and internationally.
