Biography

Wellon Bridgers - Artists - Pryor Fine Art

Wellon Bridgers is a self-taught artist based in Birmingham, Alabama. With a BA in English and French from Auburn University and an MA in English from Wake Forest University, her creative journey began in the classroom while teaching in a service-learning program over a decade ago. There, she discovered her natural proclivity for experimental painting, sparking a deep passion for artistic expression.

Bridgers' work is best described as abstract representational, inviting viewers to engage with her pieces through the lens of their personal experiences. Her art incorporates themes of light and hope, often inspired by her Christian faith, with color, texture, and composition selected to convey deeper spiritual reflections or scenes from Scripture. Bridgers has exhibited in galleries across the Southeast, participated in juried shows, and collaborated with designers and clients on commissioned works.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Bridgers serves as the Executive Director of Mwana Villages, a holistic orphan care ministry in the Republic of Congo. Her personal journey through an unethical adoption process revealed the widespread exploitation of vulnerable children and families, inspiring her lifelong commitment to advocacy and ethical global orphan care. Bridgers and her husband Stephen are parents to four children, including twins and "twiblings" adopted from Congo.

Through her art and advocacy, Bridgers weaves themes of resilience, faith, and hope, creating works that inspire reflection and connection.
