John Denning was an American artist whose practice included both painting and sculpture. Known for his large-scale watercolor paintings and abstract figurative bronze sculptures, he developed a distinctive visual language centered on the human figure. His sculptures balance movement, presence, and form, while retaining the texture and immediacy of the artist’s hand.
For nearly three decades, Denning worked closely with the California foundry responsible for casting many of his bronze sculptures. His commitment to the work continued throughout his life, with careful attention given to each stage of the process.
Even in the final chapter of his life, Denning remained engaged with his sculpture practice. Several of the last bronzes cast from his original molds were completed with the support of his wife, Brigette Denning, and the foundry team that had worked alongside him for many years.
Pryor Fine Art is privileged to present a selection of these works, including Reclined, Reclining Figure with Bird, Running Dancer, and Clouds. We are honored to share these sculptures and continue the legacy of an artist whose work remains both distinctive and deeply human.
