Edy Gosselin - Artists - Pryor Fine Art

“ Edy Gosselin’s beautiful, eloquent and iconic paintings although contemporary in style resonates with an art of a classical past”.

EDY GOSSELIN

My paintings often suggest themes of containment, protection, barriers, the vulnerable, the hidden, the covert, the “to be revealed”.   These references are never to be taken literally...they are more vehicles of expression which leaves a space for the absent presence.

TECHNIQUE
I have adapted a classical technique of painting from the Renaissance era...called glazing.  Oil paint is thinly layered over the previously, thoroughly dry layer to produce richness and depth.  With this technique and a limited colour palette of blues , reds, and browns....brings focus to the modelled forms, shapes and drapes.  I paint on high quality stretched canvases and wooden panels.
