Mixed Media on Panel
72h x 36w in.
Tracy Sharp is an Atlanta-based contemporary mixed media artist whose work reflects the transformative power of creativity, instinct, and personal reinvention. After building a career as a real estate broker, Sharp found her way back to painting through a deep inner drive to create. Her journey from real estate to the studio speaks to the unexpected ways artistic identity can emerge, evolve, and ultimately become a defining force.
Sharp is known for abstracted figures set against richly textured, atmospheric backgrounds. Her paintings carry a sense of drama, mystery, and ethereal presence, often balancing darkness and light, weight and delicacy, emergence and disappearance. Figures appear to rise from layered surfaces, creating compositions that feel both intimate and otherworldly.
Working with a diverse range of mixed media materials, including pigments, plaster, wax, and coffee, Sharp builds surfaces with depth, texture, and emotional intensity. Her process is highly physical and labor-intensive, involving repeated layers of medium that are scraped, stained, softened, obscured, and revealed. These layered surfaces give her paintings a sense of history and movement, as if each work contains traces of memory, atmosphere, and transformation.
