Time Passes Slowly When You're Lost In A Dream
Oil on Linen
40h x 50w in.
France Jodoin explores the marine landscape in her art, preferring the term "marines" to describe her work, which often includes harbors, boats, beach scenes, and waterways. Her subjects range from seascapes and cityscapes to florals, primates, and birds, all rendered with a masterful balance of abstraction and figuration.
Known for her gestural handling of oil paint on linen, Jodoin captures a timeless, dreamlike atmosphere where muted palettes and fluid brushwork invite viewers to construct their own narratives. She describes her art as a reflection on “the very brevity of life itself,” often exploring themes of otherness—different places, times, people, and species—while using paint as an elemental force to evoke memory and emotion.
Jodoin has exhibited in galleries and museums across Canada, the U.S., and Europe for over fifteen years. She lives and works in Cowansville, Quebec, Canada
