David+Peter is a collaboration between artist Peter Burega and partner architect David Cofrances.
Each successful in his own field, they have come together to share and develop a new way to express,
distill, and communicate their shared view of the world.
Peter, an abstract expressionist landscape artist, brings a lyrical sensibility and a passion for surfaces
to the table while David focusses a strong geometric eye and vast knowledge of drafting materials
and tools. Together they have created starkly black and white geometric abstractions that recall
elements of Peter’s earlier work and that honor David’s modern sensibility.
Drawing from their almost three decades of experiences together in life, travel, adventure, and cultural
diversity, the pair are both drawn to the striking revisionism of black and white imagery. The paring
down of thought and social experience to a simplicity of action and process. A departure from
today’s overwhelmingly emotional and percussive world to a simpler time and language using only
shapes, depth and line.
Confronting the viewer without artifice or extremism but through a shared fluidity of thought, action,
and response. A language of symbols developed over many years lived and shared together.
